Whack Innovation Corporation
(Also Whack Audio)
Whack
was established in July of 2005 by Greg Montie in his hometown of Vancouver Canada. The focus of the venture was to create innovative audio products because the industry had not experienced any real changes over the past couple decades. Speakers are very similar to speakers sold in the 80's, same goes with amplifiers and head units. The typical enclosure has experienced the same stagnation whereby it has always been typically very heavy in the shape of a poorly engineered wooden box.
Whack's first enclosure prototype design was a departure from conventional square boxed style enclosures with its light weight cylinder body and twin vent pipes positioned along the exterior lower left side. The prototype having steel exhaust pipes, and hand crafted features, looked interesting and worked perfectly. This successful testing drove a years worth of development and product refinement. The result became the C-Series enclosure as sold today.
Whack has remained a very small company. The majority of Whack's operations are executed by Greg, the founder, and all products are built in collaboration with local industrial companies.
Today, Whack has realized sales in the mobile audio industry and is set to expand into the marine enclosure business. Whack expects the popularity of the Marine line to create a larger public profile and inspire the markets by continuing to push the audio design envelope. |

The Founder
Greg Montie, B. Eng
Greg Montie is a mechanical engineer, where at University specialized in acoustic design. Whack Innovation is the outlet of many years of acoustic study and design. Greg has made numerous light weight subwoofer enclosures ranging in design from reinforced thin walled MDF units, to carbon-fibre tube designs, to the latest innovation: the Whack Competition series twin vented aluminium enclosure.
Before starting Whack, Greg had worked as a lead mechanical engineer developing advanced fuel systems for Cummins diesel engines, and as a director for engineering development on hydrogen fuel cell systems. During these projects, Greg has shown great creativity in advanced product design, and has three patents to his name. With keen interest and a passion for development, Greg will expand Whack's offering with new and innovative products. It is what separates Whack for the rest. It is what Greg does best.
During his University years, Greg's passion for racing cars produced an interesting automotive project: an operational scale model rally car built strictly out of Lego. This project is quite popular on the internet and can be viewed here. |
